Sun Harp, Trajan’s Forum, Rome, 1991

While working on sound installations to accompany Peter Erskine’s “Secrets of the Sun” we found a big piece of corrugated tin, completely crushed and folded by the waters of the Tyber River. We brought it back to the Forum on the back of a bicycle, added harpsichord strings and tuning pegs, solar motors and guitar picks. It lived suspended in an ancient alcove, surprising visitors with solar rhythms.
